Press Release: SAXAS at the IAA 2016

Handing over of the 3,000th body for the CharterWay rental fleet.

Mercedes-Benz CharterWay and the SAXAS Nutzfahrzeuge Werdau GmbH celebrated a special anniversary at the 66th IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hanover. On September 27th, the 3,000th vehicle with a SAXAS body was handed over ceremonially by Mr. Steffen Ebert, Managing Director of the SAXAS GmbH, and Mr. Stephan Mayer, Chief Sales Officer of SAXAS, to Mr. Martin Kehnen, Head of Product- & Body Builder Management and Marketing Mercedes-Benz Trucks Germany and Mr. Marco Späth, Head of CharterWay Fleetmanagement.

The Mercedes-Benz Atego 1530 L, shining in violet-blue metallic, was supplemented during its last pit stop before the IAA at SAXAS by a 7-meter-long shining box body. Inside, 2 rows of lashing rails, 5 pairs of lashing rings and a lift truck support ensure the necessary safety of the load. A 1,500-kilogram load-bearing tail lift closes the body rear which can be safely navigated to the loading ramp with the help of an integrated camera system. The body walls are made of robust plywood panels, which are excellent requirements for metallic paints and impressive labeling because of it's smooth surface structure.

As confirmed by the inscription on the vehicle, CharterWay and SAXAS have established a long-standing successful partnership since the first joint vehicle was manufactured in 2004. Tentatively shortening order processing times, increasing order heights and an increased need for flexibility are the reasons for a higher proportion of rentals in the commercial vehicle sector. In order to meet the high demand, CharterWay offers its customers a fleet of over 10,000 towed and towing units.

In high quantities, SAXAS produces body superstructures for these chassis which are optimally adapted to the transport task and which convince by their quality even after years of use in the rental business. As SAXAS develops and manufactures its body products and the contained assemblies both in-house, the manufacturer is able to react flexibly to it's customer and market requirements. Not only dry cargo trailers, but also platform-, curtainsider- and swap bodys as well as trailers for gardening / landscaping and mobile systems belong to the extensive product range of the company, which has existed since 2004 and has a history of more than 100 years in vehicle construction.
